UKES OF HAZARD

A Swingin' pop-rock band featuring electric ukulele based out of Whitehorse Yukon

Winter is Coming...

Ukes of Hazard's last show for the summer season was Friday August 11th at The Beer Tasters Social House in Whitehorse, YT.

The show was at capacity all night, with a lineup outside. The dancefloor was packed and people were having a great time.

The show was opened by Fabian Brook, and The Sputnik Experiment played during the intermission.

Ukes of Hazard is taking a brief break after a long summer of touring and festivals. But will be returning to the stage as full band for this November for Whitehorse's Blue Feather Music Festival 2017. In the meantime Paris has some solo gigs and trio shows booked throughout the winter season, and plans on recording a new album this winter to release for the summer of 2018.

Thanks for all your support and Ukes of Hazard will be back in action soon enough!

Have a warm & fun winter everybody!

Atlin Arts & Music Festival 2017

Ukes of Hazard had a blast performing at Atlin Arts & Music Festival 2017 for our first time! It was so great to see the dance floor fill up on a Sunday at 2pm. We had the whole main tent rockin'

The weekend was ultimately wholesome with people being together dancing and listening to great live music. The festival grounds were full of people having fun regardless of the weather and The AAMF Staff made sure us artists were well fed and showed great hospitality.

Can't wait for next year!

We are swimming deep in the Whitehorse music scene currently, but its fun! We are getting well prepped for our first big June tour through BC. Sunday Sessions at Triple J's

Today Ukes of Hazard had the honor of doing the first Sunday Sessions Showcase at Triple J's Tattoo & Piercing in Whitehorse Yukon.

We started at 2pm and had a wonderful little crowd of folks come to watch our trio (our rhythm section was busy at work). The room sounded quite nice and they had a lovely lounge area for people to grab a seat and listen. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Our good friend and photographer Aki sniped a few shots of the action! Thanks to Sunday Session host Colin Close for having us!

Ukes of the North

What happens when two ukulele players from the north collide? Awesomeness.

Ukulele Russ from Fairbanks Alaska, also known as Alaska's Guitar Alternative took Whitehorse Yukon by storm this week.

Wednesday April. 26th Russ joined the Ukes of Hazard at Epic Pizza in Riverdale for their Feature performance/June Tour Fundraiser at White Water Wednesday Open Mic with Peggy Hannifan.

Russ then performed his one man band looping show featuring bass, ukulele, harmonica, keyboards & beatboxing at Woodcutters Blanket Cocktail Bar on Thurs. April.27th. Russ was also booked at The Gold Rush Inn Sat. April.29th

Paris, first met Russ when her band Ukes of Hazard & Russ put on a show together at the Jarvis street saloon last year in 2016.

"It was good to get together again with Russ. He has been teaching me the ways of ukulele. Teaching me theory, scales and more. I've been here in Whitehorse performing for 5 years now and I've had no one to get ukulele lessons from. so these past few hangouts have been very fun and beneficial for me." - Paris

Russ & Paris were caught busking on main street in downtown Whitehorse, as well as bringing their music to Big Bear Donair & performing outside of Independent Groceries. Russ & Paris plan on combining their forces in the near future for a Ukes of the North Tour across Canada.

Dawson City, The Place for Pirates

This weekend Ukes of Hazard had a blast performing in Dawson City. I mean it's always a blast, what's not to like? Dawson has a rustic charm to it. You are thrown back into your favorite western movie with boardwalk sidewalks, little markets, dirt roads, old historical buildings and you are pretty much encouraged to be the town drunk. Thursday April. 20th we performed at the Downtown Hotel which proved to be a great sounding room over-all. The walls and floor is carpeted with the most outrageous wallpaper & décor. It's wonderful. You enter the Downtown Hotel through it's saloon doors and you immediately feel awesome! We had a great crowd of people from 9pm-Midnight.

Friday April 21st & Saturday April. 22nd we hosted a pirate party in The Pit, which is located in the Westminster Hotel. This too is a historical building you must see, it's barely holding itself up but locals are convinced it doesn't collapse because it's kept together with alcohol, magic, and friendship (so we were told). It's pink on the outside and lopsided on the inside, but something about the slanted floors and ceilings makes this place a quirky great watering hole. its always packed on the weekends with locals & music enthusiasts. We received encores each night we performed. We always meet lots of great people and the town always welcomes us with open arms.

We look foreword to returning to Dawson for Dawson City Music Festival this July.21st-23rd 2017

Atlin Mountain Inn - The Discovery Room

First time in Atlin, BC and it wont be the last

Aiden Tentrees & Myself (Paris) had a great time performing in the Atlin Mountain Inn this past Easter Saturday. The Discovery Room Pub is a cozy, friendly and welcoming place to perform. The atmosphere is judgement free, and the people of Atlin are one of a kind. I can see why so many people say this place is magical. You look out at the huge mountains and its quite breath taking. Our room at the Inn was clean, warm, comfy and quiet! Which is exactly what you need to relax entirely. Very nice.

It's been a while since Aiden and myself have rocked as a duo. Last time was during our trip to BC in December 2016. I find When we strip away the rest of the band it really forces us to try new things and get creative with the songs we picked for the night.

Aiden performed solo for the opening set, performing his favorite local Whitehorse singer-songwriter material, and some of his original songs. Once I joined him on stage we did a mix of Ukes of Hazards original songs and classic cover tunes. The Discovery Room has a very nice lounging area that's great for kicking back with a drink. Their couch especially...

Hope everyone had a pleasant Easter Weekend like we did and thanks to those who came and enjoyed our live show on Saturday night. We are excited to return for Atlin Arts & Music Festival this July 2017!
